FWNLL Divisions of Play
Lower Divisions - Do not have assessments. Players may request a buddy on the team, or request a manager/coach when registering, but they are NOT Guaranteed
Tee-Ball (league age 4-6)- No Assessment Needed.
Tee-Ball is the entry-level division for children ages 4 to 6 who have never played baseball before. Players hit from a tee and the division focuses on teaching the basics of the game in a fun and encouraging environment. Everyone in the lineup bats regardless of outs.
A Ball - Coach Pitch (league age 6-7)- No Assessment Needed.
A Ball division is for players ages 6 to 7, transitioning from tee hitting to coach pitch. Basic baseball rules are introduced, but there is no scoring, walks, or steals. Various modifications are implemented to promote skill development.
AA (league age 7-8)- No Assessment Needed.
AA is a vibrant division for players aged 7 to 8, featuring a mix of coach and player pitching. While basic rules are enforced, there is no scoring, walks, or steals, with additional modifications to encourage player development.
Upper Divisions- Cannot request buddies or managers and MUST attend assessments.
AAA (League age 9-11, age 8 eligible if placed based on assessments)- Assessment Required.
AAA marks the first all player pitched competitive division and is typically for players aged 9 to 10. Teams are formed through a draft before the Spring season. Standard baseball rules apply, with exceptions such as no leadoffs and batting through the lineup regardless of defensive positions.
Majors (League age 9-12)- Assessment Required.
The Major's division is highly competitive for players aged 9 to 12. Unlike AAA, only players in defensive positions bat, and substitutions are allowed. Typically, Majors teams participate in inter-league play within District 10.
Juniors (League age 13-14)
Juniors is the top division at FWNLL for players aged 13 to 14. In this division, the bases are set 90 feet apart, and nearly all standard baseball rules are enforced. Teams often engage in inter-league play within District 10.
Seniors (League age 14-16)
The Senior League Division uses a 60-foot, 6 inches pitching distance and a 90-foot diamond.
How to Register
STEP ONE - Use the League Finder tool to verify your address is within FWNLL boundaries. League Finder
Leagues are formed by specific boundaries, and to play within FWNLL, players must either reside in or go to school in our boundaries and provide applicable documentation.
Note: any child league age 7 and younger can play in FWNLL, regardless of where they live or go to school.
STEP TWO - Determine your child's league age. League Age Calculator
Your player's age is defined by their 'league age' not their chronological age and division of play determines the player's league age.
· T-ball (league age 4 - 6) - No Assessment Needed. $75 registration fee
· A-Ball (league age 6 - 7) - No Assessment Needed. $125 registration fee
· AA (league age 7 – 8) - No Assessment Needed. $165 registration fee
· AAA (league age 9 - 11) - Assessment Required. $220 registration fee

STEP THREE - Register your player using the FWNLL online registration system.
The online registration system lets you add multiple players, pay all registration fees, express volunteer interest, and see team schedules once available.
STEP FOUR - Verify documents by uploading to the online registration system or attending an in-person registration day
Lower division players (T-ball, A, AA) and Juniors and Seniors players can upload required documents when registering or present documents at one in-person registration day in January and February. Lower division players/Junior and Senior players do not need to attend Player Assessments.
Upper division players (AAA, Majors) can upload required documents when registering and present documents at one in-person registration day in January and February. AAA and Majors players must attend Player Assessments.
During in-person registration players will be asked to provide the player's original or certified birth certificate AND address verification documents to confirm their eligibility to play with FWNLL.
There are two ways to show proof of your child's ability to play for FWNLL: School Enrollment Form or Residence Verification.
1. School Enrollment Form (Preferred Method) The school the child attends must be within FWNLL boundaries. This is the easiest as it just requires an original (wet) signature by a school official. Forms will be collected by league staff.
2. Residence Verification (child resides within the boundaries) requires three specific forms of proof of residence, one from each group and must be dated between February 2025 and February 2026. Documents will be reviewed by league staff.
Once your registration is complete, you will receive emails confirming the registration, as well as instructions for in-person registration and dates for Player Assessments.
Q: How does FWNLL communicate general information?
The best place to find information is our Facebook page, Federal Way National Little League, or our website, FWNLL.org. our website.
Managers usually text or email their teams, many times using the app Game Changer. For most things like rain outs, we will contact the managers, and they will contact their teams.
Q: What do I need to know about the schedule?
After all leagues in our district (9) have completed their registration and finalized their teams, the district will create the schedule. Most times, that schedule will not come out until right before the games begin. That is because even though we all closed registration, some leagues will have players join or quit and must restructure their teams. It happens every year in every league. Because of that, the schedules are made, remade, remade again....and you guessed it, remade again! So, please be patient. We know you want to make plans. We have a TON of things that revolve around those schedules and will get all that information out as soon as we can.
Looking forward to an amazing 2026 season!
